Santa Barbara is made up of many diverse neighborhoods all with their own unique history and characteristics. Here are some highly ranked neighborhoods to check out during your home search.
Mesa
The Mesa area is located along the southwest border of the city and expands from the bluffs beyond the harbor to the top of the hill. This area includes Shoreline Park which is a 15-acre park with biking and walking trails, playgrounds, and picnic tables. Additionally, the schools in this area are highly rated making it a desirable spot for young families.
San Roque
The San Roque area is located northwest of Santa Barbara’s downtown area and is an area with smaller, individual homes in a quiet, yet convenient in-town location. It is an ideal spot for families given the region is in the Hope School District. You can expect the architecture in this area to range from small California cottages to classic tutor and Spanish haciendas.
Mission Canyon
Mission Canyon is another sought-after neighborhood in Santa Barbara which is tucked into the hills of Santa Barbara making it a little more remote than other neighborhoods. Although more remote, this area is known for its natural beauty and easy access to hiking trails. The homes in the neighborhood range from historic homes from the 1920s & ’30s along with ranch style, and more modern architecture.
